Human papilloma virus infection (HPV infection) causes papilloma (wart).
There are more than 100 types of human papilloma virus. Different types of HPV infection can cause warts on different parts of the body. For example, some types of HPV infections cause warts on the face and neck, while some are responsible for warts that occur on the genitals.
Hanging warts, or papillomas on the neck, as well as other hanging warts that appear on the body, can be skin-colored or slightly lighter pigmented.
They appear on the neck due to the fact that the skin in this area is often rubbed with clothing, and constant pressure encourages the development of papillomas. Small hanging warts on the neck are an aesthetic problem and that is why people usually turn to plastic surgery specialists in order to remove them effectively.
